Fleet Driver Training Courses

Driving for work is an inherent part of daily operations for many businesses, yet it is often the most dangerous activity employee''s face. "Research... suggests that between 25% and 33% of fatal and serious road traffic incidents involve someone who was at work at the time. In 2006 alone this resulted in 960 fatalities."

To tackle this, the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) issued the Driving at Work directive. The government backed this directive by passing the Corporate Manslaughter Act in 2007. In essence this means that employers are required by law to ensure that all company drivers are given information, supervision, assessment and training, relevant to the vehicle they drive or operate. If an employer fails in this Duty of Care then the law allows for them to be prosecuted.

Penalties can and do include unlimited fines and, in the case of manslaughter, criminal prosecution and imprisonment. If this is starting to sound expensive then consider this: work related road collisions cost the UK economy £3.5 billion pa (HSE, 2006).

However, the true cost of road accidents to business is nearly always higher than the resulting insurance claims - for every £1 recovered through insurance, an estimated £8 to £36 is lost via uninsured costs (HSE, 2006). The good news is that by implementing an Occupational Road Risk policy significant cost savings can be made.

Driver training can result in a reduction of between 30% to 70% in accidents leading to savings on insurance costs, loss of productivity, third party claims and legal costs. It is estimated that 79% of organisations have yet to implement an Occupational Road Risk policy - as one MD said, "If you think safety is expensive, try having an accident."

• We offer corporate driver training, specifically tailored to meet your company needs.

• We only use the Driving Standards Agency (DSA), fleet registered assessors / trainers.

• The assessment is carried out in your vehicle and a full written report will be issued.
